A wedding to remember

As we come up on my wedding date a year ago I am flooded with the memories and the insanity of that one particular day.
It was one of the hottest days of the year.  I had insisted on being a June bride, understanding that this could have been a possibility and yet sucked into the hallmark concept of June.  I can blame it most likely on my yearly overdose of Hallmark Christmas movies.  Regardless I insisted June 17th, 2017 was the perfect day to be married.  It was easy to remember and it was a Saturday in June.

The venue we had reserved was well within our small budget, as they claim the average wedding cost is 40k... ours was  a sliver of that.  It was a small little old country club with a big space.  A nice big space where we could set up however we wanted.  Everything was fine until we got there the day before to set up.  What we did not know at the time and the venue failed to mention was that the copper had been stripped out of their air conditioning unit... there was no ac in the building at all.... There was a heat advisory and it was 100 degrees outside on my wedding day.
There were tears, I won't deny it.  These giant robot machines were brought in as an attempt to cool the location.  They looked more like something out of Star Trek rather than fine wedding decorations...looking back I should have put flowers on them to jazz them up a bit.

The night before I admit I was a mess.  I knew it was unbearably hot in the venue and we had family all over in town, with our small budget there was nothing to be done.  My amazing friend Jessica secretly called my husband and told him to come see me at the hotel I was staying at because I was a disaster.  I had too many concerns about everyone's opinions or thoughts, that I was inviting them to a sauna and not a wedding.  My dress had about 8 layers and of course the guys had hot tuxes.  I remember walking out of the hotel to meet him convinced this could not happen, that we would have to postpone or run to a church or anything and I was not ok and then...  I saw him.

I swear that the world stopped.  It did for me.  I instantly knew that the only thing I needed in this world was him.  While I was still upset at the venue and the situation, none of it mattered because it was him, him I needed.  I will never forget the moment I saw him walking toward me.  I will never forget the love and relief I felt just at the sight of him.

The wedding went on.  We had a wonderful friend to officiate the wedding and the most wonderful DJ of all time.  Understand it was about 90 degrees in this venue and he had everybody and I mean everybody dancing.  If you are ever in need of a DJ in Kansas City, please consider Levity Events.  Derek  is the most wonderful and talented of people and a true unsung hero on my wedding day.

It was beautiful... It was hot but it was beautiful.  Our amazing photographer pulled off our pictures not looking like we were covered in sweat which we were, and I married the man of my dreams.

Cheers to the hottest couple in Kansas City ;)

Keep your eye on the Target

*DISCLAIMER*- I am not sponsored,  I just like to shop ;)  Target, the store full of cute things I probably don't need.  I go in to pick up my prescriptions and if I wander, I walk out spending at least 100 dollars.  This last prescription pickup *cough* shopping trip, I found some of my new favorite things.  These are different from the favorite things I got from target last month I'm sure 🙈.  I found these amazing carmel colored Espadrille wedges that were comfortable and so cute for 32.99.  I did half size down and they were perfect.  These shoes are by Universal Thread, a new adorable trendy Target brand.  Mind you these shoes are practically a dupe for the Nordstrom Marc Fisher wedges, or the Steve Madden wedges that are 3x the price.  If you want them I'll link them here Universal Thread Target Wedges The Second Amazing find was also a Universal Thread item.  I had been coveting finding the perfect crossbody round bag....

My Jord Watch, a piece that transcends time

Cassia in Olive and Aegean Blue Linked Here Jord Wood Watches  I’m pretty sure that as soon as your cell phone is out of contract someone hits a button that causes your phone to self-destruct.   Mine has decided to not hold a charge for long, leaving me without a clue about what time it actually is.   Being late is my pet peeve.   When I used to live in Los Angeles the traffic was unbelievable and if you left late you would never make up the time.   I can literally feel my soul ripping apart at the thought of being late. So, when JORD Wood Watches approached me to pick out a watch I was instantly relieved to have an place that the time of day could be prominently displayed.   I could almost hear Scarlet O’Hara calling out “As God as my witness, I will never be Late again.”   Some people might call that dramatic but, what do they know? 😂 Cassia Series   I didn’t know I could love a watch as much as the Cassia Series in Oliv...

Pass the Popcorn! My Movie Pass Experience....

My husband and I were looking for a source of entertainment that wasn't overly costly to keep up our fun date night at a reasonable rate.  I'd heard bits and pieces of people talking about Movie Pass.  Movie pass is an app/card that you pay 9.99 a month and you can see one movie a day every day in theaters.  I thought it was too good to be true and naturally I took to the internet.  Unfortunately, tons of keyboard warriors were in uproar over this app.  They claimed to be wrongfully barred or resubscribed or whatever reason people complain about these days.  I don't know if their claims were valid but this has been my experience....      Once a week during the week, my husband and I get in the car and head to the movie theater.  Once we park we check in using the app and it loads a credit to the card you are issued be movie pass or gives you an eticket code.  We go to the counter and announce the movi...
