Top 6 Spring Trends for 2018 and how to wear them

Spring is my favorite season.  First, because it means the most terrible season of all is over and I don't have to experience it for months.  Secondly, because it's pretty.  You actually see life breathed into the world again both on the ground and on your body.  I no longer emulate Casper or Wednesday Addams.  Third, the clothes are fun.  They are usually bright and exciting.  Here are some great and very wearable trends to look out for this spring:

1.  Yellow!
Whoever said the color of the year  is Ultra Violet was obviously trying to make "Fetch" Happen.  I'm sorry Gretchen, Fetch isn't going to happen.  Yellow however is.  You can find a lot of muted yellows as well right now, that are flattering on tons of skin tones.  Find a cute Maxi dress like this one, or even a skirt or cardigan to brighten up your look

 2. Polka Dots
These go in and out and always, always come back.  A black and white polka dot dress will always come back in style and is a classic.  If you have a black and white polka dot top or dress keep it after the craze and you can be cool again later.  I went full polka dot in this blue maxi but I really like the look of a polka dot top with a plain black pencil skirt.  So chic

 3. Floral
It's no surprise in Spring that Floral is here.  We may have had a late spring so actual blooming flowers are just now popping up but they've been showing up on dresses, tops and handbags since fall.  I'm very into the Boho look so I'm naturally on board.  My favorite are the floral maxi dresses that make you look like you just stepped out of a romance novel.

4. Matching sets
In my previous blog "Love you Two Pieces," I showed you some of of my favorite matching sets.  Some are very 70's style with the flared palazzo pants, and some emulate the 90's, Saved by the Bell Kelly Kapowski with the tight skirt and fitted crop tops.  You can find a style flattering on any body type.  Target and American Eagle have some great affordable ones.

5. The Jumpsuit
I was afraid of the jumpsuit because I am very short.  Sometimes things like that can emphasize a short figure, not to mention the tailoring that might be involved.  However a lot  of the styles as Express or Target I've tried haven't been too long and are very figure flattering.  Plus, a lot of them have slits on the side to make them comfortable to wear in the summer as well.  So channel your inner Abba, slip on some wedges and get into that jumpsuit!

6.  Off the Shoulder
This is another style that comes in and out.  It can look so beautiful and be so nice to wear on a hot summer day.   It does make for a slightly irritating strapless bra day, but often the end result is a very flattering look.  My biggest advice on this style is to make sure it is comfortable on your arms.  If you buy it and it is a little tight on you arms you will probably never wear it.  Be honest with yourself and look for something that is comfortable and stretchy.  Forever 21 has tons to pick from!
